REPORT FROM 2007 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

I am sure all of those who attended the Queenstown conference were very satisfied that their time was well spent in beautiful surrounding in the company of industry friends and colleagues.

We had excellent presentations by Greg Hay of Peregrine wines who talked about the development of their brand and outstanding award winning winery and provided some very useful points on succeeding in a very competitive market. John Bradbury gave attendees invaluable tips on how to make companies more profitable (having turned two companies around from being highly marginal and one on the brink of insolvency to multi-million dollar companies). Sean O’Sullivan outlined a process which includes time tracking software to increase productivity which is already being used by a dozen furniture manufacturers, and the Mayor of Queenstown who talked about how the Lakes District Council is managing the extraordinary growth of the region – as Queenstown heads to being the second largest city in the South Island.

A highlight of the annual general meeting was the presentation of Life Membership to David Walker for exceptional services to the furniture industry.

The following we re-elected as executive members for 2007/08
